I saw this small apartment and immediately knew it had potential. I'm a big believer in buying location, location, location and this apartment is located in one of the best parts of Buenos Aires close to the Alvear Palace Hotel. The apartment was small with a beaten down interior patio but I knew that I could transform it into a very contemporary and special property.
I design almost all of the renovations that my company performs. I’m not an architect but I love architecture and designing renovations on properties. I try to utilize the spaces I have to work with. This property had hardwood flooring but it was in poor condition. The bathroom and the kitchen were both old and needed renovations. The interior courtyard was not utilized and was in poor condition.
Some walls needed to be knocked down but I designed a renovation that took it from a worn down apartment into a really upscale unit in one of the best neighborhoods in South America.
The major work performed is below:
- The kitchen was totally renovated and the wall separating the kitchen and living room was removed to create a more open feel, allow more light in and make it more modern.
- I removed the wood floors and put in polished cement making it more modern
- Totally renovated the dated bathroom and made it modern changing out everything including all fixtures.
- Put in a big glass windows between the terrace and the living room and also the bedroom giving it a lot more natural sunlight in each room and making the terrace the focal point of the property.
- I knocked down the wall between the bedroom and the living room making a totally new access point from before.
- Totally painted the entire apartment
- Completely renovated the interior patio area and putting in lighting as well.
- Changed out all light fixtures and adding AC units in each room
This was a fun project and a very drastic before and after renovation. The renovation took 4 months from start to finish.
